If you're new to the sport of clay shooting, you may have a lot of questions regarding the type of equipment your youth athlete will need to participate. Below is some information that may help you make the right choice.
The Amateur Trap Association (ATA) and Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) have specific specifications regarding the type and gauge (size) of shotgun a youth shooter can utilize. This is to ensure fair competition and safety within our sport. Our coaches have the knowledge and experience to help recommend and fit your athlete to a proper firearm.
Both 12 and 20 gauge shotguns can be utilized in our sports. Break-action single and double barrel shotguns can be utilized as long as they do not have an external hammer. Typically, you will see break-action, pump and semi-auto shotguns in use on the range.
